Hi hello my name is Christine Hernandez, born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. My blood holds deep roots to the land of central south Texas, from before the life giving waters of the Rio Grande were turned into a border that shows mans need to own. Limestone lands resting above an ancient aquifer. There is a detectable and readable amount of electromagnetism that comes from land of this combination.

I learned how to weave in downtown San Antonio, right along the river, at the Southwest School of Arts and Crafts in 2015. What an amazing realm the weaving world is. It felt so good, it felt familiar. It is slow and repetitive and forgiving and soft and ancient, very ancient.

I moved up to New Mexico in the summer of 2018. First living in Santa Fe for half a year, then getting to live at an old mill house with a bunch of babely witches in Nambe for a year and finally to Chimayo, where I currently reside. I apprenticed tapestry weaving under seventh generation Chimayo weaver Irvin Trujillo at Centinela Traditional Arts for the year 2019, which got put on hold due to le pandemic.

Weaving is a practice for me, its a meditation. Being in a clear state of mind is an important aspect of weaving in this process. While creating the cloth, the tapestry, the fiber, I am whispering nothing but the best intentions, the sweetest prayers, for you and for me and for yall and for us. We are all in this together, we are all very connected. Weaving reminds me of that, reminds me of the interconnectedness of this dimension we reside in.

Thank you for your support to this lil Chicana owned business. You visiting my site is support, you reading til this point is support. Thank you, you magnificent cosmic being.
